Historic Gettysburg
April 5 to 9, 2008
September 20-24, 2008

This is the perfect time to visit Washington, right at the start of the Cherry Blossom Festival. Come away with us and experience the Capital of the United States. We have included Gettysburg, the site of the greatest battle in the Civil War. It was here in July of 1863 that General Robert E. Lee’s Army of Northern Virginia and the Union Army of the Potomac under General George G Meade, met by chance.

Day 1 Cornwall-Chambersburg, PA Our travels this morning take us along the Adirondack Parkway in Upper New York State into Pennsylvania and our overnight destination at Chambersburg.

Day 2 Chambersburg PA - Washington DC. Today we are headed for the heart of Washington DC, our home for the next two nights, which is close to The White House. We’ll do lunch at Union Station and then look forward to a tour of Washington this afternoon. This highlight tour will include Washington Monument, Lincoln, Vietnam Veterans, World War and Korean War Veterans Memorials. We will travel over to Arlington VA to Arlington Cemetery to visit the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and the Kennedy Graves. Our tour will also take us by the blossoming cherry trees which herald the beginning of spring in Washington.

Day 3 Washington DC This is your day to explore Washington. A trip to the Smithsonian Institution composed of 17 museums is a must, and the National Mall is but a short walk. You’ll want to pick and choose areas of interest. Old Town Trolley Tours stops just outside our hotel and you can hop on and off at the sites you wish to see. The Washington Subway system is also user friendly. Perhaps a show at the Ford Theatre, the site of Abraham Lincoln’s assassination would be an evening activity of choice.

Day 4 Washington DC - Gettysburg PA. This morning we head off to Gettysburg, site of one of the biggest battles in the Civil War. Here at Gettysburg on July 1, 2, and 3, 1863, more men actually fought and more men died than in any other battle before or since on North American soil. Our licenced battlefield guide will bring the battle to life for us, on our guided tour. The historic Gettysburg Hotel will be our home tonight.

Following the Glens
September 14 to 30, 2008

This tour is open to everyone, but will be of high interest to those who are Veterans, or have Military association or interest.
The tour itinerary will begin with overseas flights to England. Stormont Dundas and Glengarry Highlanders, otherwise known as The Glens, were part of the Allied Troops that liberated Europe in 1944-1945. The tour will follow the route of the liberation starting with three days in England, visiting such places as Winston Churchill’s WWII bunker, The Imperial War Museum and tour of London, The D-Day Museum, and Southwick House, where the D-Day planning took place, then we’ll cross the English Channel to Normandy France. The tour will settle at Caen and spend four days touring an area of supreme importance not only for The Glens but the entire world. The D-Day assault began here June 6, 1944 and the success of Operation Overlord was critical to the advancement of the Allies and indeed the outcome of the war. The next three days we’ll continue up the northern coast of France visiting Dieppe, Canadian WWI Memorial at Vimy Ridge, the burial place of Canadian WWI Colonel John McCrae who wrote the poem “In Flanders Fields”.

The next two days will be spent in Belgium centering in Knokke. We’ll visit Adegem, Maldegem, and visit the towns of Hoofdplaat & Breskens, in nearby Netherlands and The Scheldt Estuary & River leading to Antwerp. We’ll continue on into The Netherlands for the final days of our tour, staying in the Dutch city of Nijmegen and touring to several critical areas here. We leave Europe from Brussels in Belgium

*Price and finalized itinerary to be released late September 2007.
